The Louis Heard Trio will present "Jazz Interpretations" as part of the next installment in the America's Art Form Concert Series at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Garland County Library, 1427 Malvern Ave.

The concerts are free to attend and seating is available on a first-come basis. The concert series is hosted by the library and sponsored by the Hot Springs Jazz Society.

"With a light touch, Louis presents Paul Desmond's 'Take Five' with energy and spark. No heavy pounding from this guy, his playing is breezy and joyous," said a news release from the Jazz Society.

Heard, an avant-garde vocalist-pianist, is a Little Rock native. "In 2014, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and studied jazz piano under the tutelage of Dr. Tom Cox and Bob Boyd. Louis has performed with artists such as Dee Lucas, Jonathan Fritzen, and Calvin Richardson. Louis is ably accompanied by bassist Max Campbell and drummer Rodrick 'Rod P' Pleasants," the release said.

Campbell, a bassist, musician and music educator, is based in Little Rock Arkansas. Since graduating from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2020 with a B.A. in Music, "Max has worked playing a wide variety of gigs including jazz shows, musicals, choral and orchestral performances and private events. Max is also a member of several local musical groups, and composes and releases music under his own name," it said.

Pleasants, a percussionist, is also a Little Rock native. "Rod recorded with National Recording artist Angela Spivey. Max attended the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff majoring in Music Education. He became a part of UAPB's jazz ensemble as both a drummer/pianist under the direction of Dr. Robert Walker. Rod played for national accredited artist such as Ginuwine, Robert Curry and Willie Taylor of P Diddy's Day 26, Tom Browne, Tisha Campbell Martin, Jamal 'Gravy' Woolard, Ment 2B, J. White, and Jonathan Karrant as well as share the stage with other national artists such as Monica, K. Michelle, Silk, H-Town, Tony Joe White, Anthony Gomes and Avant. Rodrick Pleasants is currently music director of his own band, The Rod P Outfit," the release said.

Support for the Hot Springs Jazz Society is provided, in part, by the Arkansas Arts Council, an agency of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
