HSV Audubon Society gives camp scholarships

The Hot Springs Village Audubon Society Halberg Ecology Camp Scholarship coordinators Josie Farrell and Teri LaBove attended the closing ceremonies for the camp's first week. Farrell presented invitations to Hannah Bearden, Zoe McGregor, Jaxson Hawkins and Caleb Sandage and their families to be honored at an HSV Audubon Dinner at 6 p.m. July 11 at the Hot Springs Village Townhouse Community Center as this year's scholarship recipients.

The Arkansas Audubon Society began the Camp in 1980 for 11 and 12 year olds to learn about natural science. Since 1983, HSV Audubon has offered full scholarships to local students from Jessieville, Fountain Lake and Mountain Pine schools. It started with one and now offers up to six scholarships per year. Any 11- or 12-year-old can apply for next year's camp by contacting Teri LaBove, 915-9101 for information.
