A local man was charged with first-degree murder Tuesday after police discovered the body of a Hot Springs man in an apartment on Oakcliff Street, Hot Springs police said.
Police responded to 307 Oakcliff St., Apt. B, at around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday regarding a call about a deceased male, according to a news release. Officers found the body of Joshua David Buck, 43, of Hot Springs, inside the upstairs apartment.
A relative later told The Sentinel-Record the Oakcliff Street apartment was Buck's residence.
During the investigation, it was discovered Terry Eugene Hughes, 55, who lists a Couchwood Street address, "was involved," the release said. Hughes was later charged with first-degree murder, punishable by up to life in prison.
LifeNet had initially responded to the scene after officers arrived, but Garland County Coroner Stuart Smedley was contacted and responded just a few minutes later.
Hughes, who lists no prior felony criminal history, was being held on zero bond and will likely be arraigned today in Garland County District Court.
