Two to more than 4 inches of rain fell over parts of central Arkansas Monday morning, the National Weather Service said, including a part of Garland County that was placed under a flood warning and later a flood advisory.

The Weather Service said in a social media post Monday afternoon that the rainfall was the first of a few rounds of rainfall expected this week.

There is an 80% chance of rainfall today, according to the Weather Service.

Garland County remains under a flash flood watch through Thursday morning.

Several rounds of heavy rain will affect the area, with totals of 2 to 4 inches possible over central Arkansas and 3 to 6 inches possible over western Arkansas, the watch said.

A flash flood warning was issued Monday morning for northwestern Garland County, after 1.5 to 2 inches of rainfall.

The flood advisory, which was issued later that morning, included northwestern Garland County along with Perry County, northwestern Pulaski County and northwestern Saline County.

At 9:39 a.m. Monday, "the public reported high water in area creeks across the advisory area. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional light to moderate rain will continue over the next few hours," the advisory said.

"Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage and low lying areas," it said.

There were a number of posts made on social media about flooded roadways in the Jessieville area.

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
