A Royal woman was arrested on multiple felony drug charges involving meth, cocaine and fentanyl after a Hot Springs police K-9 allegedly alerted on a vehicle she was a passenger in Thursday following a traffic stop.
Jordan Blair Gibson, 27, who lists an Old Bear Road address in Royal, was taken into custody around 1 p.m. and charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance, each punishable by up to six years in prison, and possession of drug paraphernalia, punishable by up to 20 years.
Gibson was held on a $12,500 bond and appeared Friday in Garland County District Court. She bonded out later that day and has a felony review hearing set for Dec. 6.
According to the probable cause affidavit, around noon Thursday, HSPD Cpl. Jonathan Smith saw a black 2018 Hyundai Elantra with expired tags traveling east on Hobson Avenue near Summer Street and made a traffic stop on it at Hobson and Sixth Street.
He made contact with the male driver and his front-seat passenger, identified as Gibson, and a computer check showed the driver had a search waiver on file.
Smith told the driver he was going to have to exit the vehicle, along with Gibson, its registered owner, so the officers could conduct a search, but Gibson noted it was her vehicle and "didn't know why (Smith) needed to search it."
Based on Gibson's "demeanor and attitude toward me," Smith had both exit the vehicle and then had his K-9 partner, Kubo, perform a narcotics sniff.
He started Kubo on the rear passenger side and he immediately went to the open passenger side door and "showed a change in behavior" and then "went to his final response" prompting a search of the vehicle.
On the passenger side, officers allegedly found a backpack with "MK" all over it that contained a black digital scale with residue. In the passenger side door, officers allegedly found a soda can with an unused syringe in it.
Gibson was taken into custody and after being read her rights, she was asked if there was anything else illegal on her person that would be found at the detention center and she reportedly said, "No."
Once at the jail, a female deputy performed a "detailed search" of Gibson and a baggie was allegedly found in her bra containing blue pills identified as fentanyl, approximately 2.5 grams. In searching further, the deputy allegedly found two more baggies hidden on her person containing 4.4 grams of what later tested positive for meth and 0.7 grams of what later tested positive for cocaine.
Detectives with the HSPD's Special Investigations Division were notified and responded to the jail to assume the investigation, the affidavit said.
