Lakeside High School's star senior Maya Hubbard is a long-distance runner for the Lady Rams cross-country team.

Lady Rams head coach Jeff Haynes said Hubbard encapsulates perseverance.

"She has had some health issues during her running career and most people would have given up," Haynes said. "She has learned how to train around her glitch and now she is faster than she has ever been."
