Gethsemane MBC plans Family & Friends Day

The Gethsemane MBC, 120 Blake St., with Pastor Bobbie L. Hampton, will present Family & Friends Day/Pew Rally at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Pastor Billy E. Blackmon and the Mount Zion MBC of Malvern will be the special guests.

The public and all area churches are welcome to attend.

Prince of Peace welcomes bishop

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 3819 Central Ave., will welcome the Rev. Becca Middeke-Conley, Bishop of the Arkansas-Oklahoma Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, on Sunday.

Middeke-Conley will provide the sermon message and a blessing of the congregation's new worship chapel housed within Westminster Presbyterian Church. Guests may use the back entrance of Westminster to access the Prince of Peace Chapel. A reception will follow the service.

"Prince of Peace is a Reconciling in Christ congregation. We welcome all to breathe free in Christ with us, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, physical or mental ability, or family status," a news release said.

Empowerment Zone celebrates anniversaries

Empowerment Zone Ministry will present the Third Church and Pastoral Anniversary of Bishop Jessie Franklin at 11 a.m. today at the Garland County Library auditorium, 1427 Malvern Ave.

The guest speaker is Bishop Randle.
