After the success of three sumo wrestlers facing off in the ring last year in Bank OZK Arena, Visit Hot Springs is bringing six sumo champions to the Spa City for All Star Sumo, an elite sumo round-robin tournament on April 11.
"This will be actual competition for the Hot Springs Cup of sumo wrestling," Steve Arrison, Visit Hot Springs CEO, said in a news release.
"Our sumo exhibition last year was such a success we decided to bring actual competition back to Hot Springs this year during the city's annual Cherry Blossom Festival.
"These will be six world-famous sumo champions competing in head-to-head competition. It will be great entertainment for fans of all ages. We haven't settled on the six competitors yet, but we'll have that lineup soon," he said.
Tickets for the event go on sale Feb. 9 on ticketmaster.com and will be $25 for general admission and $55 for floor seats, and the first match is set for 7:30 p.m.
"This is going to be rapid-fire nonstop action featuring the best of the best sumo competitors in the world," Arrison said in the release.
